Why do people hate them? They are involved or part of the culture of video game writing that causes game narratives to suck. The argument is that games are also diverse and that gamers don't want to get preached on. This in turn makes the game divisive driving the paying customers away and causing game studio shutdowns. So Midas touch in a way everything they touch turns to shit for example Kill the Justice League, Gotham Knights, and more.
