This amazing function is built into all MX4000-8000 range Bang and Olufsen CRTs. It is accessed through the programmable Beo4 or Beo1000 remotes.

For more details on these CRT TVs please see my MX7000 video.

This feature is referred to by B&O as 'non interlace' but not a lot of information seems to be available. The manual warns that SHIFT functions are "for B&O professionals only!".

The feature works by re-synchronizing every other line of interlaced video so that every frame is displayed with 240 visible lines and 240 scanlines. There is some small visible wobbling on bright images but most of the time it's almost like having a rock solid 240p imag, as you might get from running an RGB signal into a Sync Stiker and Extron 580xi RGB interface as in Faginrs500's video.

To operate:

Using a Beo1000 remote, press PICTURE then SHIFT then 7

Using a Beo4 remote, programme the SHIFT function into LIST mode, by pressing (ON+LIST), (up and down to select ADD), (select SHIFT from the list and press GO, then EXIT)

Then press MENU, select Picture and press GO
Point your Beo4 away from the TV (or the next operation will cancel the menu)
press LIST until SHIFT is displayed on the LCD
Point the Beo4 back at the TV and press GO
(The picture setting values will disappear and take you back to the menu screen)
Press 7
The screen will go into de-interlace mode and scanlines will appear!

You will need to follow this procedure each time you turn the TV on, if you need to use it.
