BAR! - Mount Mayhem in 4:35.84 with Good Framerate Mode
Better time now uploaded.
This is a test and a showcase of Good Framerate Mode [GFM], and this is obviously raw footage without my watermark, which isn't usual for me. I recorded this on April Fools' Day, and I had really wanted to break the WR in an invalid hacky run in celebration of the day, but this is as close as I got.
Simply having a GameShark attached messes up the engine sounds for me. Always has. GFM isn't the root cause.
I'm able to get, at most, a high 4:36 almost every time with this mode on, but I feel like, even though it's harder to mess up the waterfall tunnel jump with GFM on, it's also harder to stick to the ground completely like you sometimes can without it. So, not sure if the WR is artificiallly improvable with GFM.
It turns out that GFM does not seem to allow faster times directly; it only changes collisions, probably for the better on this track, and improves visibility. It doesn't seem to improve screwy jumps on Coventry Cove, for the record. It really is effective on this track, but I haven't found a use for it elsewhere so far.
Also, hope you're reading this, Andy. Take a look at how swerving right at the bottom of the ski ramp resets you further up the track. If you're not hitting the nitro crate with a pretty low 38 on the first lap, you're losing time. Definitely worth considering.
Have a fantastic day!
