pretty soon after our first couple games of Bard Game, mit ( https://twitter.com/mitsamemario ) came up with this board idea, kicking off the thought of friends in our server having their own boards a la mario party 1. welcome to the city of mako! (the kanji reads "card board")

the music here is an arrangement of the main theme of final fantasy 7, taking massive inspiration from mario party 2's space land. this gives the board a sort of grandeur that's a fun contrast to the way midgar is presented in ff7 proper.

this board has significantly more spaces than the water aisles does, and it has a fairly impactful gimmick in that the upper sectors can break or be broken, dropping players on the outer ring of spaces to a lower area with worse spaces to land on and rivers of lifestream that take them back to start if they can't jump over them.

in order to reach the inner ring, players have to traverse the entire outer ring all the way back to right before start. once they're there, the inner ring is much smaller, so a full loop in it takes a lot less than it does in the outer ring. lining the entire city are characters and shops who sell cards for blue spheres, give cards away, or offer their services for gathering players or breaking sectors. it's a dense metropolis!

bard game is still not available to play publicly and there are no current plans to make it available.
