Barthandelus | Final Fantasy XIII (13) 100% Walkthrough "26/64" (No Commentary)
In this part, we fight our way through the final room of the ship and arrive in the cockpit to confront Dysley. However, Dysley ends up killing off his entire crew and reveals himself to be a fal'Cie named Barthandelus who has been guiding us along the path he wants us to take. We then fight Barthandelus and are forced to use his airship to both escape the Palamecia, and arrive at the Fifth Ark.

Strategy:
The first thing we need to know, is that this boss is immune to Staggering and all Status Ailments until it's four smaller parts have been destroyed, so we'll need to target them first. When the battle begins we'll target the four parts one at a time and hit them with Status Ailments to weaken them, before swapping to 1 to finish them (or you can stay in 2). After we defeat each of the parts, Barthandelus will cast "Magic Amplification" which will upgrade the tier of spells the remaining parts can use (Fire to Fira, or if one part remains, Fira to Firaga; each part has it's own element). Once the four parts are destroyed, the real battle begins. The primary goal is to stay in 1 until Barthandelus is Staggered, then swap to 2 so Vanille can cast Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperil. Swap back to 1 once they're applied and stay here to kill. 3 and 4 are used to reapply Sazh's Haste and to reapply Vanille's debuffs respectfully. To heal, we'll use Potions whenever we are in the yellow HP margin. Barthandelus only has 2 attacks that we need to be wary of, the first is Doom, the same attack that Eidolon's use on us, but he'll only apply this to our leader if we take longer than 20 minutes which is very unlikely. The second is Destrudo which takes a while to charge. Once you see "Destrudo" appear in text, immediately go all out to damage Barthandelus and you'll hear him grunt in pain, this mean the damage Destrudo will do has been lessened. A full power Destrudo can be lethal, so be ready.
