Batsugun 1cc (Arcade, Normal difficulty) Steam port (bitwave, not city connection!)
I was able to pull off the 1cc for this game just the other day and figured I'd share it with you people! I put some MT VGM songs over it to make it relevant to the channel. Here is my mini review of this game! (note: I had to pause the game a couple of times so I cut those parts out)
Things I liked
-great graphics (especially for 1993). lots of cool attention to detail.
-gameplay really holds up today. For being known as the grandfather of bullet hell games not exactly a whole lot has changed with modern shmups. If it aint broke don't fix it, i guess!
-good difficulty (for the most part). Not insanely hard, but much harder than Gun-Nac! Took a lot of practice despite google saying it's an "easy 1cc". Maybe "easy" compared to Dodonpachi DOJ black label, but not EASY as in like a Kirby game that's for sure! Some bosses and parts of levels have tricks to them that make them really easy if you know them, but at first they seem very difficult. I guess that's just part of the game, but it feels weird sometimes.
-just honest shoot and dodge and play good. no penalty for using bombs.
Things that could be better
-enemies can point blank you. took a while to get used to this! In more modern shmups this is basically non existent now because it feels really cheap
-difficulty balance is kind of weird (Second boss seems harder than the third, first and second stage really short, last 2 REALLY LONG)
-bullets sometimes hard to see. I got used to it but on some levels they can really blend in with the background and piss you off if you die to one you couldn't see. More modern games the bullets are usually bright pink or blue and they stand out way more.
-bombs hurt bosses a LOT. I found myself bomb spamming instead of having to learn their patterns (especially the last boss), which I am glad I beat the game, but also it didn't feel as rewarding.
-Getting pigs gets tons of points but I didn't really understand how to get them. I could obviously look it up, but I wasn't that worried about score for this one since you seem to only get one extend from points.
Other than the minor complaints this is an A+ game that belongs in a museum.
