The leftover footage I had from playing the Hardline beta.

My thoughts/opinions on the "beta version" of the game below. I'll add more if comments on the video remind me of things I meant to talk about.

At first glance for me it looks like a poorly re-skinned Battlefield 4. After some time playing and viewing all the available weapons and gadgets I'd say there better be ~15 maps on release otherwise I have no idea what they've been spending their time on because it sure as hell isn't on game assets like sound, textures, models, animations. And I'm not talking 3-4 different game mode versions of a map added together to equal ~15 maps, I'm talking individual maps. Otherwise it becomes like the DLC only map game modes for BF4, rarely played game modes and maps that only work for one or two game modes.

Comparing the leaked gameplay footage video that was supposedly six months old when leaked to the beta gameplay it seems like they haven't done much work on models, animations or sounds. If the current versions turn out not to be place holders it's going to make the game feel old out of the box for those that played Battlefield 3/4 a lot.

The perk system looks to be an altered version of the bro bar from BF4, quite limited in the beta version of the game but it looks to be pointless and broken like it's predecessor. Not really happy to see body armor coming back again.

The size of maps make the hud clutter even worse than BF4.

The game modes they currently have in the beta are Blood Money and Heist. Blood Money to me didn't feel like there was much incentive to win but instead to find the best way to camp and kill the enemy at their spawn or the money pile. Heist is a combination of Rush and a sort of Capture the Flag game mode but since it starts out as Rush and the map is quite small it's quite easy to lock down the enemy spawn especially when the player count is limited to 32 players, 16 on each team. Both game modes can have very short rounds, under 2 minutes for both which makes me wonder if this game's multiplayer is meant to target an audience that needs a constant "instant gratification" throughout the game including the multiplayer. For me it made winning seem pointless.

The fact that the game is being released on the old generation consoles, new generation consoles and PC just makes me cringe again like BF4 did. It means nothing new coming from the Frostbite engine and no major alterations or improvements because of the old generation console limit. But they did bring back the BF3 supernova sun so all you fans of BF3 should be super excited.

For the most part the positives I see for this game so long as certain things don't get patched are funny/stupid things you can do with vehicles and gadgets. But then you're not really playing the game so much as screwing around inside the game. This is something that will likely happen sooner than it did for previous Battlefield games.

Since the game is to be released in October they have a little under three months to work on the game because of the approval wait times for the console versions of the game.

Personally I don't play Battlefield games for the singleplayer campaign so if you think you can get $60 worth of time out of the multiplayer then by all means go for it. Otherwise I'd suggest getting it at a discount or sale price.

On a side note Hardline's multiplayer seems like its trying to be serious but comes off as funny most of the time. Reminds me a bit of Bad Company which brings me to this point. With the identity issues the Medal of Honor franchise had along with BC2 and BF3 I don't see this ending well especially if it doesn't maintain activity past two months like Titanfall.

Additional Thoughts

The revive bug with max spread ( see BF4 video example on this channel ) is in the current Hardline beta. Considering this was never fixed in BF3 and BF4 have fun buying this bug again.

Also appears the one-hit bug experienced early on with BF4 and certain weapons might be present in the Hardline beta.
