Battlefield V || NORDLYS - Part 01
0- For three years, Norway, along with most of Western Europe, has been under occupation by Nazi Germany. Since the evacuation of its royal monarchy and the installation of a puppet government in 1940, the territory has been used by the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe to extend control over the North Seas. 400,000 Wehrmacht soldiers have been stationed in the country to protect these interests, while the general population is under the control of the Geheime Staatspolizei, the Gestapo. Despite this, during 1943, Norwegian saboteurs collaborate with the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) in commando missions to cripple the war effort, one of which is a heavy water production plant at Rjukan, Telemark.
STILL AND SILENT
- Three days before the events of the story, Astrid Bjørnstad, a technician at the heavy water plant, assists a group of British Commandos in their attempt to destroy the German-held facility. The raid fails however and all surviving members are executed. Her role in the raid exposed, Astrid is arrested and brought before the base commander, Leutnant Weber. Weber interrogates Astrid for information on the "monsters in the woods" - resistance operatives and suspected survivors of the raid, who have been found to be killing German troops in the surrounding area.
- One such "monster" is Solveig, who has been tracking her mother since her capture in an attempt to rescue her. Equipped with skis, Throwing Knives, an old service rifle and her trusty hunting knife, Solveig successfully infiltrates the heavy water plant and locates her mother. Before they leave however, Astrid insists they retrieve a dossier of intel and sabotage the machinery. On the single viaduct leading outside the base, they are surrounded by Weber and his men, who convinces them to spare Astrid as she is an invaluable asset, while Weber suspects Solveig is one of the British commandos. With few options left and fearing for her daughter's life, Astrid entrusts the dossier to Solvieg before pushing her off the bridge.
ALL IS ASH
- Injured but alive, Solveig awakens to the distant sounds of German search parties descending upon the ravine. In the bitter cold and driving winds of a snowstorm, she proceeds through the area in order to deliver the dossier to a resistance dead drop, but accidentally slips into a river and almost dies from hypothermia. With the last of her strength, she shambles to a nearby cabin, surprising the German resting inside, killing him before fainting.
