Bayonetta 3 | "Broken Promise" | Combo Video
A video that took a whole year to get done.
I lie, it only took me 2 months, but I had to play Bayonetta 3 for about year to really understand its core mechanics anyway. This video was SUPPOSED to release on its one year anniversary, but I needed a little extra time to craft something excellent. I can't in all honesty say this is the DEFINITIVE Bayonetta 3 combo video, as this is less about technical mastery like executing Demon Slave Offset, Delayed Wink Slave or the rest of the janky tech folks have been discovering in Bayonetta 3 lately, and more about precise positioning and execution to make it all look perfectly planned out. Think Vergil in the DMC series, I suppose.
There's so much I want to say about Bayonetta 3, but I'll probably leave it for another video, but if you really must know, I like the game. A lot. Its combat has a definite promise for wild and crazy stuff people will continue to find in the years to come. Obviously, the story is shit, but that has never really been important to me (cue the pitchforks, I guess). There's issues with the game, and I can make a laundry list about it, but again, I'll leave that for another day. I do plan to make more Bayonetta 3 style videos in the future, especially one centered around Viola, so don't fret, but for now, I need a little break. Thanks for all the support, you lovely Bayonutters, you.

A common question I get asked about this video is if all the footage came from an emulator due to how clean and colorful everything looks. No, this was directly captured from my own Switch. I used an Elgato HD60 S+ capture device along with its 4K media software for recording footage. It offers a lot of features that allow you to get the cleanest quality recordings possible, with color tweaks and bitrate adjustments, at the cost of getting some rather huge clip sizes. I'm talking a hefty 30gb+ per clip kinda thing. I almost ran out of space on my main hard drive recording this video and I wasn't even aware of it, so I had to get a new external SSD just to make sure I had room for more. The overall size of the clips allowed me to reduce the bitrate but also upscale the footage to 1440p. Youtube doesn't play nice when it comes to bitrate and even the final footage still has fuzziness if you press your eyes against the screen, but its definitely better than just uploading at 1080p and seeing Youtube bitcrush everything to death.
