The combo seems to work on a lot of characters (mario, zss) and works from 0 to 40% (more or less). However, doing DI from the start to the end I think you can escape... Maybe... This is only 1 of the countless death setup of bayonetta. If you have trouble to kill at high percentage remember that dtilt to uair is true combo until 180% (depending to the characters).
