BeamNG.Drive Update Retrospective: Small Island 0.3 vs 0.3.7.7 vs 0.8
13To celebrate the upcoming update, I made a BeamNG retrospective comparing versions 0.3, 0.3.7.7 and 0.8 based on the first ever rally event I did on the forums in 2013. It also happens to act as a comparison between minimum, medium and max settings as I upgraded my CPU and my GPU over the years. Each run is displayed in a picture-in-picture style with custom made splits and lap times. You wouldn't believe how much time that part took to edit in, as I had to manually calculate every split using frame positions, and used notepad and a calculator for the amount behind labels since I don't have Excel installed on this computer currently. I also had to use retime editing in Resolve to selectively speed up parts of the 0.3 footage, as the severe physics slowdown from my old computer made the time very inaccurate.
PC specs are an EVGA GTX 1060 SC and Intel i7 4790K with 16 gigs of Sniper G.SKILL RAM. Driven with an Xbox 360 controller. Edited and produced using Avidemux and DaVinci Resolve.
