Good night, bear! I loved watching this video - I guess I never realized that bears cover up when they get in bed just like we do! ABC News commenters also enjoyed watching the bear prepare to go to bed for the next few months and left nearly 1,600 comments. ovomerta shared, "My toxic trait is thinking I could go lay down and snuggle the bear!" LonV joked, "When you’ve prepared very little…but the project is due anyway LOL!" Kim DuBord swooned, "Awwww he’s makin his wittle bed!!!" and Mitten Kittens added, "Someone give him a blankie and snacks before he snoozes."
Commenter CJAGIII pointed out, "They don't hibernate. They actually enter what's called "torpor". A deep sleep similar to hibernation." Most of us grew up being told that bears hibernate during the winter, but as CJAGIII said, they actually don't. Torpor is often referred to as temporary hibernation and is different from the hibernation we all think about. Hibernation is voluntary, whereas torpor is involuntary, like breathing.
