Beating Jeremy Clarkson's Nordschleife time using FIRST GEAR ONLY
You just need a suitable car (in this case, Seat Leon WTCC 2007). This is the car setup that I regularly use for attempting to beat my 7:17.787 WR - the first gear was not made taller specifically for this video. On a flat and level straight, the rpm limiter kicks in at 126/127 kph (78 mph). This time is actually MUCH faster than what Jeremy Clarkson did in the Jaguar S-Type 2.7 V6 Diesel (207 PS). He only did BRIDGE TO GANTRY (19,100 metres). This is the FULL LAP (20,832 metres). So, his average speed (with 9:59 bridge to gantry) was 114.8 kph (71.3 mph), this (9:58.014 full lap) is 125.4 kph (77.9 mph). Since this was done in just a few attempts (and the braking and turn in points are COMPLETELY different from what I am used to when engaging all 6 gears), quite a big lap time improvement is possible (to sub-9:55). But the point has already been proven - you can do a lap in under 10 minutes using JUST first gear. Obviously, this sim is GTR Evolution. The bridge to gantry time of this run is 9:09 (125.25 kph) - full 50 seconds faster than Jeremy Clarkson did using all gears of the Jaguar...
