Benign Congenital Hypotonia (BCH) My Story | Storytime
This is my story about battling Benign Congenital Hypotonia. Soon I will have a video about where exactly it comes from and if it is caused by an underlying condition.
Please take when I say it was "like I was paralyzed" very lightly, as I was not, I just could not move as much as a regular baby could. Moving and being picked up was very painful for me if done incorrectly. It was just a way for you to understand what it would have been like.
When editing this video I decided to look through a baby book my mom made and noticed some discrepancies with what she told me. You can get the correct information below. Do not hate just for this, I had to ask her from her memory and this was a major thing when I was a baby which was 23 years ago, but 20 years ago is when I stopped having major issues with my Hypotonia, and it was more just creating sprains and strains and having me fall.
I first slept through the night at 6 weeks old. (My mom made a note, that I slept through most of the night every night as I was not an eater.)
I first smiled when I was 3 weeks old.
I first discovered my hands when I was 3 weeks old.
I first grasped something at 6 weeks old.
I first discovered my feet when I was 10 weeks old.
I first clapped when I was 8 1/2 months old.
I first waved bye-bye when I was 7 months old.
I first drank from a cup when I was 7 1/2 months old.
I first used a spoon when I was 1 years old.
I first held up my head when I was 4 months old and held it to the side.
I first rolled over when I was 8 months old. (I could roll half way at 4 months old.)
I first sat up when I was 6 months old.
I first scooted when I was 10 months old.
I could pull to a standing up when I was 14 months old. (1 year and 2 months.)
I could stand alone when I was 17 3/4 months old. (Almost a year and a half.)
I took my first step when I was 15 months old. (1 year and 3 months.)
I started walking at 17 3/4 months old. (Almost 1 year and a half.)
I do not have an exact date of when I started talking, but by 21 1/2 months (1 year and 9 1/2 months,) I could say "hi," "bye," "ow," "wow." "look," "stinky," "dirty," "more," "mommy," "daddy," "oh," "ah," "wee-wee," "baby," "doggy," "kitty."
Those are my milestones, some may be average, but from children that I have met, I have been really far behind on a lot of things, though I do not know what exactly is "average." I just know a lot of babies who were walking before being 1 years old.
