Storyline
Amerzone whisks the player from Brittany, France to the far-off land of the imaginary Amerzone, located in Central America. The player personifies a young journalist who discovers the legend of the mysterious 'White Birds". Intrigued by the mystery, he embarks on an adventure, which will lead him through the Amerzone and bring him face-to-face with the secrets of the jungle. You cross the path of soldiers left to their own devices, a priest blinded by faith seeking to convert the natives, lost adventurers and a power-crazy dictator. Every place you visit is saturated with the same thick atmosphere of heat and humidity, which only intensifies your quest.
According to legend, the "White Birds" guarantee eternal life and prosperity and were offered to the Native Americans as a gift by God. These amazing creatures, according to the myth, are born, live and die in the sky without ever coming down to land. However, no one knows for sure. An evil sorcerer stole the originating off from the Natives even before the birds could be born. Since that fateful day, the tribe has suffered under a merciless curse. To finally put an end to their misfortune, it is up to the journalist to locate the egg and return it to its rightful owners. What begins as a routine journalistic assignment quickly turns into a dangerous mission as political and ecological situations escalate.
