0For Meta Gem Unholy will use "Tireless Spirit" While in group content or "Oblivion Sphere" while solo in their Meta Gem socket. Tireless Spirit is great for Group content, but, while solo doesn't do a whole lot for Unholy, as we don't struggle with resources. Instead taking Oblivion Sphere allows us to amplify our burst damage, and allows for more enemy control with the stun it provides.
For Cogwheel Gems use Blink. There's not much to say here other than Blink is incredibly good on a low 15-second cooldown, making it hard for anything else to come close.
For Tinker Gems Unholy Death Knights have twelve Tinker sockets available as you gear up your character. These are the gems you want to use in your sockets.

While not mandatory, you will want to run these in almost every circumstance.
Windweaver - Haste increases your proc rate on other gems and is typically a very strong stat for most of your party members.
Brilliance - Versatility is a strong stat and the additional resource generation can be utilized by many classes in group content.
Storm Overload - Is extremely powerful in solo content and can be used to trigger Opportunist.

Brittle - Strong AoE option, more efficient if you kill enemies unevenly.
Conditionally Good Gems
Slay - Gives strong execute damage on anything that's not a boss enemy.
Opportunist - Subtlety has a lot of options to stun enemies. Multiple gems provide additional stuns for additional options to trigger the effect.
Sunstrider's Flourish - Good in combination with Opportunist.
Meteor Storm - Additional damage and a chance to stun enemies, can be good for triggering Opportunist
Victory Fire - Decent option to keep you and your party healthy during leveling.
Cold Front - Strong defensive option in group content.
Incendiary Terror - Provides high damage. Fear is a strong crowd control effect but can lead to extra effort when grouping enemies.
