Best STEAM GAMING HARDWARE Review | HTC Vive, controller, link
12theMCGuiRE review takes a look at the Steam Link, Steam Controller and the HTC Vive VR headset! Valve is really justing nailing it with their gaming hardware and really starting to build a family of products that all work together seamlessly. There are many gaming hardware manufactures and software download clients out there today but Valve is just delivery in both spaces and in a way that pulls the entire experience together.
With the Steam Link you can stream your computer desktop to any TV in the house through ethernet or wireless and the wireless streaming works extremely well. The Steam controllers are great to be able and sit on your couch and play most any of your favorite steam games - just like a gaming console. The controllers are also well ahead of their time and superior to most other offerings out there ( give them a chance and you will soon understand they offer tons more functionality). Then, without saying, the HTC Vive VR headset is the BEST VR experience out there - period. Other hardware in the market is good - don't get me wrong and some of them even have benefits that outweigh the Vive in some categories but the overall out of the box experience is by far superior with the Vive. I also think you will see a lot more high end games designed specifically for the Vive in the future as it offers a better room scale experience. You also have Valve behind the Vive and games like Halflife 3 / Portal 3 (you know they are coming) will more than likely be exclusive to the HTC Vive. This last statement is complete speculation but much like we see games exclusive to various consoles, I think you will see more and more high end games and partnerships exclusive to VR headsets.
