[BfA] Testing out the PTP spec! - Demonology Warlock 8.2.5 PvP | WoW BGs
'Eyy it's a video of a thing! It took me for-frickin'-ever to complete but here it is! Also: Happy New Years!
But about the subject matter at hand, this spec is a spec quite a few demos rolled earlier on in the xpac, though this is my first real attempt at using it. It definitely feels a lot different to a normal felguard-based spec, but it does have quite a few interesting tradeoffs, i.e. in place of a felguard's Mortal Strike debuff and a stun, you get armor-bypassing pet damage, a slow and a breakable channeled CC. The "burst" is also almost entirely redesigned when going this setup as well, as the Tyrant no longer remains the burst, but becomes the setup instead. The burst all comes from lining up the dreadstalker expirations and pumping as many demonbolts as you can within the duration of the Shadow's Bite buff. It's really neat actually!
Now you may be asking: "Why in the world of warcraft would I ever want to sacrifice my 60k tyrantbolts and a 4s insta-cast stun?" Well, lemme tell ya here: people are gettin' a lot smarter when it comes to big boi Tyrants as of late and have been hardcore denying/cc-ing the thing a lot more effectively. When they do this, your burst is entirely denied and you end up doing pet auto-attacks for another min and a half until you get another Tyrant out, which will probably face the exact same fate as last time. In this spec, your normie damage is quite significantly boosted thanks to beefier Demonbolts, AND you'll make people pop defensives on your setup (Tyrant in PTP spec) instead of your burst (post-Tyrant)!
Now, as for losing the stun, I ain't got much to say on that because the seduce isn't even half the worth of trading out that stun. That one's just a loss that I can't even cover up for. REGARDLESS! This spec's been doin' alright so far and has worked fairly decently enough in arenas at 2.1k rating for me to at least be able to recommend it to people wantin' to try somethin' new.
Thanks for readin' the descrips!
