"Big Ball" by Wulzy | Geometry Dash 2.11
1,146Wulzy is back with another level, and this was a surprise to me. I didn't know that he had been working on a new level. It turns out that he was doing it on stream over the course of a week, so maybe I'll have to drop in from time to time moving forward. Watching him create is probably a blast, at least from what I've seen of his content, which I recommend you go check out.
This is, similarly to his previous levels, a clean but cool effect level. It's a shame that we don't see levels like these a lot anymore. To me, it feels like modern levels kinda took over for "effect" levels, which were quite common in versions before 2.1, albeit with much more simple effects. A lot of effects have already been done, though, and 2.1's editor allows you to make a lot of stuff that was amazing back in the day very easily.
Even still, I think there's more to be explored in this style. This level is not a masterpiece by any means. I wouldn't say any of the parts in this are amazing. To me, though, they all do their job well, at least beyond 0:20. I find the parts before that a little bit on the simple side. Some more detail in the background or foreground would have helped. I like how he stuck with blue colors throughout, making it feel more cohesive, although some other colors mixed in would have made it a bit more interesting.
For a level made in a week, this is impressive overall. I would say the gameplay is quite enjoyable as well, making it possible for this to get an Epic rating by RobTop. It will most likely be 7 stars. In the future, I'd love to see Wulzy pour his heart and soul into a big project to see what he's truly capable of. Even if he doesn't, though, I'll still enjoy levels like this.
