Big Data of the Nervous System | Walter Voit | Talks at Google
Dr. Walter Voit stops by the Googleplex for a discussion about big data and neuroscience.
We fabricate wireless recording and stimulating neural interfaces called Nerve Tags using advanced semiconductor and polymer technology; techniques that give us unprecedented access to the body's nervous system. As opposed to current paradigms in which a large and invasive surgery is needed (e.g. cochlear implant, spinal stimulator, pacemaker) we envision a minimally invasive treatment paradigm for real time, high-fidelity information streams from the thousands of nerves of the nervous system. Dr. Walter Voit is an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Syzygy Memory Plastics, as well as co-founder and incubator of several other material science-based startups.
