Billy Mickelson (Third Seven) - As Are We
10Thought I would share this, music of a friend of mine and a truly amazing musician whose music I feel more people need to hear. His name is Billy Mickelson, and he hails from the great Northwest, just as I originally do. I accidentally discovered him one December evening back in 2012, when I was supposed to be attending a local jazz show for a "History of Jazz" class I was taking at the time. By a purely happy accident, as the saying goes, I went to the wrong venue, and instead saw a flier for a "one man cello show", a "cello wizard" etc.
I was intrigued, my friend and I decided to go, and the rest is history. Sufficed to say, Billy and his incredible (mostly) one-man act really captured my imagination, and I've been a fan ever since. It just so happens that the cello is my favorite classical instrument (outside of the guitar, piano, and clarinet), and this dude carried serious singing chops to boot!
So here is one of my favorite songs by Third Seven, entitled "As Are We", from the 2012 release "Cascadia". I use the pic of Cap, because it's one of my favorite quotes, and I really felt that it fit the theme and mood of the song.
