Binary Domain - Fight off Robots with Trusty Buddies..
Binary Domain is a third-person shooter video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2012 and Microsoft Windows in April 2012. The game is set in Tokyo, Japan, in the year 2080. It features innovative artificial intelligence technology.
2080 AD Tokyo, most of Japan has been flooded due to rising water levels. Society has rebuilt on the remains of the ruined cities and has thus been segregated into an upper and lower strata. Technology though, has continued to advance in this dystopian future and eventually leads to a robot infestation. The Amada Corporation break Geneva Code, Clause 21 by creating humanoid robots that believe themselves to be human. These so-called Hollow Children have infiltrated the human population, blurring the lines between man and machine. Dan Marshall and the Rust Crew are tasked to find Amada at all costs.
The game is set in a world where global warming has caused worldwide flooding, leaving much of the world uninhabitable. As a result, robots were used as the main labor force. The game features a consequence system, which decides how non-playable characters in the squad views and trusts the player in story mode.
The trust system affects both how your AI squad plays and certain parts of the story. Trust is earned and lost based on combat performance, actions and dialog choice. There's also a nano-machine that can be purchased from a civilian that grants an extra 5% gain in trust each time you earn some.
Combat performance: Killing quickly, efficiently and getting headshot, double, triple, multi, one-shot and smash kills will impress the team and earn you some trust with them, reviving downed teammates gains trust as well. Really slow and poor combat performance can sometimes get a negative reaction, though it's not that big of a deal and it's never that hard. Accidentally shooting teammates (even when they walk right in front of your bullets) will result in lost trust.
Actions: These are different throughout the game, but they're basically about playing the game well. Doing things before teammates point them out and agreeing to and then following through with them also earns the player more trust.
Dialog choice: The correct answer is almost always to agree with your squad and tell them what they want to hear. Sometimes after battles end a squad member will tell you how awesome you are and your reply can gain or lose trust, after battles you can also sometimes gain trust by telling the team "Good job" or other phrases. When in doubt 90% of the time the bottom answer spoken with the cross button is the one to go with. Some choices don't really get a reaction, though others can get a negative reaction and lose you some trust with that character or the whole squad.
