With headphones plugged into ASUS motherboard audio out jack, use Realtek Audio Control to "Disable All Sound Effects". Audio is good.
In Realtek Audio Control, select "Speakers", then check "Disable All Sound Effects". That will gray out the icons for Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar.
