This is a Black & Decker 40V Max String Trimmer Model LST136B. This model does not include a battery and a charger. This requires assembly and this video will show you how from start to finish.
The only tool needed to complete this assembly is a Philips Screwdriver. First, you need to remove the screw from the GUARD. While keeping the GUARD square to the TRIMMER HEAD, slide it fully until the retaining tab clicks into place.
Refer to your manual to see illustrations for labeled instructions:
Make sure that the GUIDE RAILS (D1) on the GUARD (D2) are correctly aligned with the GUIDE RAILS (D3) on the TRIMMER HEAD (D4) (figure D). The LOCKING TAB (D5) should snap into the HOUSING SLOT (D6). Secure the GUARD with the screw (E1) (figure E).
Attaching the AUXILIARY HANDLE (Figures F and G)
Push the auxiliary handle onto the tube. Slide the bolt through the holes in the auxiliary handle. Tighten the knob onto the bolt by turning it clockwise.
The auxiliary handle can be adjusted to provide optimum balance and comfort. Loosen the knob onto the bolt by turning it counterclockwise. Gently slide the auxiliary handle up or down the tube to the desired height. Tighten the knob onto the bolt by turning it clockwise.
Adjusting the height of the tool (Figure H)
Adjust the length of the trimmer to obtain the proper working positions (Figure N). This tool has telescopic mechanism, allowing you to set it to a comfortable height.
To adjust the height setting:
Unlock the height adjustment by opening the locking clamp (H1). Gently pull the tube (H2) up or down to the desired height. Once you’re done, close locking clamp (H1).
RELEASING THE CUTTING LINE
In transit, the cutting line is taped to the spool housing. Remove the tape holding the cutting line to the spool housing.
This trimmer can be used in trimming or edging mode. If you need to change the mode from one to another, remove the battery for safety.
SWITCHING ON AND OFF
To switch the trimmer on, press and hold the LOCK OFF BUTTON (L1), then squeeze the TRIGGER LEVER (L2). Once the TRIMMER is running, release the LOCK OFF BUTTON (L1). To switch the TRIMMER OFF, release the TRIGGER LEVER.
