Blarney Castle

Built in 1446. It is a tower house, a type of fortification built by Gaelic lords and the Anglo-Irish between the 15th and 17th centuries. It was an unusually large tower house and comprises of two towers, the second added in the 1500s. Built by Cormac MacCarthy, it was the stronghold for the family in the area of Muskerry.

Prominent position in the village with the intention to overlook the square. Classical style and was moved to this location in 1776.
