First tip... get to level 7 Mea Culpa before trying. You can probably do it at 6, but I'd recommend 7. You might be able to do it even lower than 6 too, but I'm guessing you're not here watching my video if you are good enough for that.

First part of the video, I do a quick run through to show my Mea Culpa Heart used (Heart of Oils), Relics used (none are really relevant to this battle though), and lastly which beads I had in my Rosary. There might be one or two better choices here, but I went for a fairly defensive strategy on those. Only exceptions there were knot of hair (for some strength/damage boost) and the Weight of True Guilt, because I wasn't sure if it was required in these final battles in some way.

You'll also notice I only show 6 bile containers (aka health pots). This isn't because I didn't find any. If you are watching this, you may not be aware that there is a guy in the Desecrated Cistern that trades "quicksilver" and a bile container for an upgraded bile container. I did this 3 or 4 times, so you'll also see the heals I get are quite big.

I think the combination of the big heals and level 7 Mea Culpa pushed me to victory, more than my skill actual abilities on the controller.

In this victory, I was actually quite sloppy, mistiming things, but also I fluked off a couple of very well timed blocks (which are the ones that resulted in my character not being pushed back). Those were just lucky. In the fight before this (not shown), I did a lot better in most regards and had less block luck, but died when he hit hard with his diagonal dive. Really, evading those dive/dashes is important as hell.

His diagonal dive is very easy to dodge. If you line up a few steps away, as I did, and jump up at the right time, you can kinda slightly steer yourself a bit to land just inside his blast wave, but after it's already moved past that landing spot.. then you want to get right on him ASAP and lay 3-4 shots quickly, or hit with one of your big attacks.

I hope this helps. I struggled with this boss more than anything, until, again, I got to level 7 and upgraded my bile containers. That's a big difference maker.
