Blasted Road Terror - Early Access Watcher -
Disclosure: This game copy was bought by the reviewer.
In the post apocalyptic future, fuel, water and supplies are limited. Utilize up to four support vehicles to protect your upgrade-able main vehicle from a onslaught of bandits, thugs, and warbosses as you destroy them for supplies. The road also has structural hazards littering the ancient highways, requiring careful placement of your cars to avoid them while being in range of enemies. Upgrade the base with these supplies, buy from the black market to equip bumpers/banners to power you up, and recruit temporary heroes to make up for your loses. Your main vehicle may survive, but your support troops are lost forever should they perish on the road.
The overall experience is rather simple, mainly requiring a good balance between the game's weapon types to combat the enemy. Mission types are either killing ghouls, car warbands, warbosses or protecting a vehicle. Items are gathered by enemies when killed and used to upgrade the base with options such as highly support vehicle levels, higher passive healing following each mission and a larger inventory for the black market. At the end of the day though, you will be sending units to a specific spot as you move forward and try to out last the enemy. It is okay in short bursts, but I can't see myself playing it for more than 30 minutes. It runs well at least, with no noticeable stuttering or FPS drops.
