Blind LP: The Hobbit Part 4 - I Hit the Dislike Button on dis GAME, Yo!
This is an interesting game. It came out when Lord of the Rings hype was still something "in," and I got this almost on launch day. Can't say I was 100% pleased, but it's still something I pop in the Wii on occasion for fun. So, celebrating that movie coming out this December that's probably gonna suck, join me, AustinOnSugar, and MinorInjury as we battle our way through Middle Earth and face down the badly-animated dragon Smaug!
This title is to suggest that I actually enjoy this game. Still think this chapter should have been called "A Short Rest," though.
Also, I don't think these designers /get/ what made the book so great. Bilbo's greatest quality is that he wasn't capable of ANYTHING when he started out, and even after his quest he wasn't the greatest whatever ever. Rather, his journey was internally his alone, and despite his work being insignificant on a grand scale, his character development was enormous.
Here, it's like he's expected to be an expert. Not only is picking the William's pocketses much more difficult of a setup (for obvious reasons in game design), but the dwarves and even GANDALF HIMSELF are totally fine with sending Bilbo alone to find the Troll-Hole. It's as if they're - pun intended - trolling him.
Now, with that said, I'm gonna make it my aim during the second half of this blind LP to explain exactly why this game is still a great work of art that's been severely underappreciated. That, and my hopes of another game being made in light of a certain movie to come this December...
