Blizzard Activision Wins, Microsoft Wins, Players Lose, No Big Deal. I'm sure this news of Microsoft buying Activision for 68 billion dollars is old news for a lot of you at this point, but this story has stuck with me over the past week and I don't really agree with a lot of takes and the mostly tepid in Microsoft we trust" response. It is funny how un-serious "game journalists" these days can be and how short gamers memories can be. Even though this doesn't directly effect shmups now, I think this move is a massive step in the slow and sad march towards gamepass taking over and gaming becoming like netflix, which will really harm smaller studios and indie releases in the future. Just think about music and spotify.
