It seems Blizzard is actually taking away the requirement to have a phone linked to your account to play. This is seemingly only affecting existing Overwatch players though. I was honestly not expecting them to do this, I thought they were going to double down hard on it and keep justifying having it but no, they seem to be doing the right thing. This doesn't entirely get them out of hot water but it's a start :)
