So it seems Blizzard is going after Nostalrius and ordered that it be shut down. This is a private WOW server that people go to play on when they want a vanilla experience. The server claims over 150,000 accounts, pre-AQ WOW, and 30 staff working on the setup. Unless Blizzard themselves plans to do their own expansion capped servers, this server should represent no threat to Blizzard at all. I get that this is an unintended use of their products and Nostalrius does not exactly hide in the shadows. That being said, it keeps people playing a game they created and nothing will remove users from their base other than Blizzard themselves.
