Block Out (NES) - 1P Mode B - 3x4x8 - Up to Stage 8
[This video contains flashing parts, mostly prior to clearing the stage. You have been warned. Also excuse if there is a sync issue with both audio and the gameplay footage.]
Pit: 3x4x8
Stage: 1
Speed: 1 (?)
Just an attempt on 1P Mode B for the first time, hence the moment of accidentally pressing the Start button during the mode selection screen. [Music B was still set due to my previous play.]
It seems that like the NES Tetris, there is an ending animation, possibly depending on the player's performance. [I'm certain the ending music here is based on the BGM playing in the 1P Play mode of the arcade version except in a more peaceful tone.]
While playing B mode... in a 3x4x8 field in this case, I noticed one might be able to predict what the next polycube will be. I wonder if it's just me assuming that or it's the port itself being more merciful than the arcade, which I used to play a lot often.
Anyhow, gameplay elements in this port are different, with Mode B becoming my favorite go-to place for a Block Out session on NES. At least one does not have to see that face very often in this version.
[Also, to myself, such whole thought about the lack of "block-sliding" feature in the NES port when dropping prior to it being locked is falsified. It's still present in here though quite different compared to the arcade's. It's like having to tap the d-pad just to be able to move quickly unlike in the arcade version. Glad that I can still control the block prior to its frame color turning pink.]
Block Out, including the unreleased NES port, belongs to its respectful owners.
