The iPhone Bloki allows you to view your phone on a table or nightstand in landscape mode without holding it, all while it charges.
The Story
It all started after I got my first iPhone. At the time, I had a large alarm clock on my night stand and discovered my iPhone5 could replace the large clock and do so much more.
The only problem I had was that I could not see the iPhone clock App in landscape mode while it was charging. I then embarked on resolving this issue and am here now on Kickstarter to share my solution with you.
The Design Evolution
The first step we took was to design the Bloki in 3D so we could have our first prototypes made of ABS plastic to test the functionality and get a feel for the design. We then filed a provisional patent. We had a second version made that addressed a couple of concerns we had and printed what we think is a solid design that hits all the targets we set ourselves. We then had our first metal Bloki machined and finished in satin black to match the iPhone's beautiful finish.
The final design has been built offshore in a pre-production run. We received 2 parts and ordered another 200 based on the first 2 samples we received. We are very pleased with the quality of the first samples. Form, fit, and finish exceeded our expectations and matched the high quality we've come to expect from Apple products.
We need funding soon to finance our second run. Our first production run is underway in order to meet mid January shipments for our 200 piece early bird pledges. We will keep you up to date on our progress.
In parallel, we are working on the iPhone 4 version. The design is complete and we are working with the same supplier to produce our pre-production samples.
We expect, once launched, that the Bloki will have enough exposure to ensure steady sales growth and allow us to move to different versions of the Bloki for other smart phones (Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, and Note 3, Google Nexus 4 and 5) and tablets (iPad mini, Google Nexus 7).
