Modern movie fans seem to love spinning wild conspiracies about out of control auteurs and scheming showrunners "hijacking" major movies or popular franchises, transforming them beyond recognition or "injecting" hidden agendas, messages or too much personal energy to the detriment of the project - for good or ill.
