Bob Barker spent most of his early childhood in Darrington, Washington. However, his father passed when Bob was very young and his mother remarried and moved to Springfield, Missouri. After finishing college, he was drafted into the United States Naval Reserve. However, by the time, he joined duty, World War II had already ended, and Barker quit Naval Reserve without seeing any action. At the end of the war, Barker moved to California where a local radio station offered him his own radio show, The Bob Barker Show, which Barker hosted for six years. In 1956, Barker was offered Truth Or Consequences, which he hosted for 20 years. In 1972, Barker got the project that would change his life, he accepted the role of the host on The Price Is Right and the rest is history. By the time, Barker retired from the show, The Price Is Right had already become the longest-running daytime game show in television's history and Bob Barker had established his place as one of TV's most popular game show hosts.
