This is retro month! Why is it retro month? Because my computer is busted and I have to use a computer that is only good for old games, is why!

We are playing Silent Hunter III, a submarine warfare sim from 2005, and we are playing on Career Mode in which we are the captain of a WWII German sub over several patrols starting in 1941.

The year 1941 was the midst of the "Happy Times," a time during which the German submarine forces were winning the battle to starve Britain of much-needed supplies, and U-boat aces were sinking a staggering number of tons of Allied shipping. After about 1942, the Allies started to win based partly on the sheer quantity of shipping that the Americans could manufacture, and also based on much improved anti-submarine techniques and technological innovations like radar.
