96This skill check was one of the most captivating experiences I've had in the game, and it still resonates with me even after so many times. I recently made a reflexes skill check video about Alex, and some people were kind enough to let me know that you don't even need 20 reflexes to do it. However, this is not how things used to be in 1.6, and unfortunately, it shows how streamlining the game into a semi-ersatz rendition of its original vision was a kick in the teeth to those of us who still loved the game despite its flaws. Although I appreciate every quality of life change, the polishing, the stabilization, and everything else that they did to enhance the overall experience, it's unfortunate that the Grady short-sighted gunk nonsense got in the way of the game's original vision.
Despite the game's linearity and the number of hours required to complete it, I still prefer to port over a character with tens of thousands of crafting materials so that I can immediately upgrade all of my gear and weapons once I obtain them. This approach can be more enjoyable since it saves me time and allows me to focus on using the attribute perks and weapons that I enjoy the most.
In the game, you are limited to being either a Nerfed and underpowered runner, a stealthy type with suppressed pistols or a sniper rifle, or a "full commando" using a combination of assault rifles and SMGs. While the absence of skill design and the exclusion of the fantastic Cold Blood path were significant changes for me, I appreciate the Phantom Liberty skip as a great choice for those who want to experience the game in a different, more streamlined way.
However, for those who want to challenge themselves and push their limits, the Phantom Liberty skip requires the same amount of effort as starting the game from the prologue. Regardless of your reasons for taking this route, you'll definitely be rewarded with some of the coolest moments in the game.
