Body Harvest - N64 - (Gremlin /DMA Design 1998) - Random Gameplay
Some random gameplay from the start of Body Harvest, a game developed by DMA Design (who would later become Rockstar North) for the N64 in 1998. Originally the game was going to be published by Nintendo as a launch title for the N64, but they weren't happy with the level of violence in the game and worked with DMA on fleshing out the RPG elements of the title.
In the end, Nintendo still weren't happy, and after many delays, they decided not to publish the game after all, leaving Gremlin to pick it up (Midway in the US) and bring it to the public.
From the wiki..."In Body Harvest, players assume the role of a genetically engineered soldier, Adam Drake, who must investigate and eliminate an alien attack force that has returned once every 25 years to "harvest" the human population of Earth for their organic material. Being in possession of a time travel device, Drake must return to the past and do battle in five areas over a 100-year period that covers World War I-era Greece, Java in the 1940s, the United States in the 1960s, Siberia in the 1990s, and the near future (2016). The game is non-linear, as players can go anywhere and do anything within the limits of the game's boundaries."
The game features a game mechanic that would prove to be in lots of DMA?Rockstar North games...the ability to enter any vehicle you can see on the map. It does make me want to have some sort of Body Harvest DLC for GTAV where giant insects invade the map!
Despite the game playing REALLY R E A L L Y SLOWWWWW it is still fun enough to persevere with, although it is starting to show its age a bit now! Remake, Reboot or Remaster please, R*North!
