Something different, I replay an early level in Boomerang X for Nintendo Switch, switching up the control settings.

The left video shows gameplay on default settings, with light aim assist and traditional stick controls. Basically, Xbox.

The right video shows Flick Stick gameplay, possible with Nintendo Switch Joycons or Pro Controller. Maybe a Playstation controller if you have the right adapter.

Both recordings were done on different days. No flux, no advanced powers, only Recall and Slingshot. I actually did the Flick Stick recording earlier, so I was well aware of the level layout and enemy formations when I had aim assist on.

I'd imagine the aim assist turned off without gyro would do even worse, but I actively felt that the auto-aim was hurting me half the time. You can see the cursor hugging onto enemies that are not part of the quota.

I think the video speaks for itself, although I may need to do more. Aim assist is an accessibility feature, not a requirement, especially in today's age when we have better tech in our controllers. If you need aim assist to enjoy your game, turn it on, but there's no contest in skill when the game does the aiming for you.
