This is a brand new Retro Style Scrolling Shooter Game From Denis Evans which is still in development, and it's called Icarus. Denis kindly gave me permission to make this video from the most recent upload of the code, which you can download at https://www.dropbox.com/s/n63a08l4ujg81gt/Icarus.zip?dl=0
Denis tells us that:-

Cursor keys to move!

"Z" for Fire
"X" for Bombs
"C" and "V" to slow down / speed up ship movement (5 levels!)

"S" to toggle scanlines
"M" to toggle music (to see what a difference your music makes!)
"ESC" to restart the test level demo...
He goes on to say
"When your ship flashes red inside, that's the hitbox and you would have died... πŸ˜€ So, friendly collision... πŸ˜‰

Gonna put achievements in there (ie. launched all rockets, found all secrets (there are several areas in the test level!), shot ALL targets, shot all fuel, caused launched rockets to destroy hoverships, etc) πŸ˜€

It might also scroll in different routes, a'la Venture or Vanguard... πŸ˜€ Maybe even allow the ship to 'flip' left and right as in defender, go up or down the screen at points, a'la Salamander, collect spacemen as in Gravitar, etc... ...Sort of a mish-mash!

Might also add some lovely modern gfx, and a flip for 8-bit / 16-bit (currently 16-bit placeholders) retro gfx... πŸ™‚

...and of course, lovely CRT scanline / tube emulation filters... πŸ˜€

PS - You can't die yet, it's just a showcase of what's in there at the moment... πŸ˜€ Imagine once it can all kill you? - I can certainly create some fiendish challenges!

Here's hoping this does well once I get it completed! - If it's promising and actually sells some copies on Steam once complete, I may even plump for an annual Switch/Xbox/PS4/5 license (Β£625, ouch!...), but I'm getting ahead of myself... πŸ˜€

Ps - The demo will be updated as and when I add more features, so will update this post when that happens, so perhaps turns notifications on for it!

Any feedback would be *REALLY* appreciated, but currently, it's early days!
