Brink: playing online again - 1st place scrubs!
Brink online nostalgic PS3 gameplay:
*video captured 9/19/2012*
It's been over a year since I played this game.
I'm rusty and spend parts of the match trying to remember the controls, abilites & HUD.
Still get 1st place on my 1st match back.
Using the Medic-Resistance faction.
Brink is one of those games I was really looking forward to years before it launched.
I like the art style, color palette and weapon detail and design.
Plus the dev team had an established online multiplayer pedigree w/ Quake Enemy Territory.
Unfortunately it didn't live up it's own hype:
The S.M.A.R.T. system(Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) sucks and is inconsistent.
Janky animations.
Controls are kinda crappy. It's difficult to accurately aim(could be a deadzone issue or analog stick acceleration issue or both).
Game still has technical issues: laggy, glitches preventing setting deployables or using abilities on teammates.
Their bots do not live up expectations: Completely unremarkable and not nearly the indistinguishable A.I. challenge they were advertised to be.
I still think their design choice of ultra low bullet damage w/ high recoil weapons was a mistake.
Game had potential and still is fun though.
That's why I went back to playing it after a 13 month hiatus.
Brink was released in North America on May 10, 2011
