If you're a fellow Battlefield 2042 player who's been grappling with HDR problems since the 4.2.0 update, then this video might help you. We all know how vital HDR is for an immersive gaming experience, and how frustrating it can be when it doesn't work as expected. Today, we're going to look into a potential workaround.

While the community has offered several suggestions, the most recent one that works for me is:

- Open the game in borderless mode, alt-tab and open up a HDR video, for instance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9n6HkftavM
- Alt-tab back to the game and see if the HDR is fixed, if not try minimising the YouTube window.
- If all that doesn't work, try windowed mode and expand it out, while hiding the taskbar and then either leave the HDR video paused in the background or close/minimise it to get back to BF2042.

Some times it takes a few tries to get it to stick.

I think the game is for some reason booting in 8 bit per-pixel mode instead of 10 bit and that's whats causing the weird blown out look.

Thanks to people in the above forum thread for the suggestions and this workaround; it's not always consistent and every workaround I've had thus far has eventually broken with a patch, so see what works for you.
