We found out what is causing the random crashes when playing Brutal Doom with QuestZDoom. To avoid periodic crashes set the following:

**In ingame options activate SSBO. Display Options - Dynamic Light - Light Buffer Mode**

For best performance set Super Sampling Resolution (SS) to 0.8 in the launcher. An in game disable Sky Dome. Display Options - Sky Dome (OFF)
