So I didn't have any connection issues but Player 2 did and when they DCed and came back, I got stuck on that screen for the entire game. I felt bad sitting there being able to do nothing the whole game but I really couldn't do anything. Honestly, BTD6 should allow you to reset and come back instead of kicking you out of the game you were in entirely when you exit. Like in other games like League or something, you can close out of the application and resume the game you were playing before. You can't do that with BTD6 though which sucks.
