In this video we take a more critical look at the fix discussed in the last video.

I made this video a few months ago, but was unhappy with it and didn't fully finish the visuals.
The reason I still release it now, is that I think that it's important to be noted that these things are not as easy as one can make them look in a video. (It also just bugged me that I didn't have this out yet and kept me from working on other videos.)
When presenting the "fix for redstone" I was quite excited about it myself and missed to talk about the issues.
The fix still has some good ideas in it (e.g. a breadth first order for updates) but adding that in a nice way would require some far reaching changes.
To be fair the fix I made was doomed from the start as one of my main goals was to not break any old behaviour. I managed to do so for the most part, but with that premise it was already set up to be a hack onto the original code rather than a proper fix. In a proper fix some old quirks will break, some update orders will change and many many old contraptions won't work any more because of that.
So hereby I admit defeat. I'm not able to fix redstone without also breaking some stuff. But maybe I will take a try to fix it with breaking some stuff at some point :-)

This video was recorded with OBS and cut with kdenLive. If there is a third person view in it I just connected with a second instance of Minecraft and recorded from there.
The audio was recorded with Audacity.
