Building a GTX 1060 Hybrid Part 1: Tear-Down
The first obvious question: "Why?" The two-part answer: "Because," and "to learn more about the hardware." The GTX 1060 was fairly stable in its clock-rate, but the clock-rate stability was improved substantially with MSI's Twin Frozr cooler (our only other 1060 at this time). The Twin Frozr card still saw an occasional big dip in frequency, which is what we're trying to fix by adding liquid cooling to the GTX 1060 -- creating our GTX 1060 GN "Hybrid."
