Disclaimer: Although games like COD MW and Battle Field have amazing graphics, acting, and storylines, the gameplay remains essentially arcadey with recharging health, enemies that are basically zombies. True Tactical Shooters reveal realistic ballistics and physics as well as Smart AI that maneuver, flank, use cover appropriately and use team work.
The best AI Ive seen both friendly and enemy is in Brothers in Arms, using Redrocs War mod with enhanced AI.
Battle field 4 for instance looks absolutely amazing, with superior graphics, unprecedented motion capture, destructible environments, a compelling story line and realistic sounds, and even a suppressive fire support option, it still however suffers from linear gameplay and regenerating health.
The interesting thing about Tactical Shooters is the allow the operator to make tactical decisions which affect the success of the mission and surviavability of the team.
BF4 features the new Frostbite engine which enables a dynamic ocean wave, wind, trees responding to the wind, destruction at and unprecedented level.
The core of these dynamic weather effects exist in the ARMA series as well as other military simulators. I hope that one day on the Tactical Shooter level, we might enjoy the resources to create something like the frostbite engine although ARMA is getting closer with every release.
