So... it was a bit short. I loved every minute, but I felt it was over too fast.
The bosses were rather easy, too. I think there was only one I had to try multiple times to defeat? The hazards of the overworld & dealing with multiple enemies at once was more of a challenge.
I was also a bit let-down with the ending. I was hoping that, like Link to the Past, once you defeated the villain, there would be a whole dark-world to explore.
Instead, it was just a final dungeon & on to Ganon. I should have expected it, though, with how many high-level items were thrown at me at the very end.
That said, I still LOVED the game. Well done, and the fact that it retains some of the roguelike elements of Crypt of the NecroDancer with per-game randomization, makes it replayable.
In a way it also feels like.... a new definitive Zelda game? There was so much that felt like a very different world from our own, to explore in many of the older games. Shortly after the release of Ocarina of Time, though, it seemed like things became more stagnant & formulaic.
Though this has MANY familiar elements, there are other things that make it feel off-beat in a certain way that brings back this... feeling of being unfamiliar, and I like that.
It's something the franchise needs more of.
