Finally, I've gotten a 1-continue run with Mess. I need to work on NOT losing a life against Slice in stage 4... IMO, he's the 2nd hardest boss in the game and one cheap quarter-crunching abomination- only the Slisaurs of stage 7 are worse. Two clones of Slice are three times as bad as one.
The Haymaker does give you a few i-frames after using it. I've seen a lot of players use the A+B attack even when they're in the clear. That's why.
In stage 6 you can hit the Tyrog as it gets back up. Once you knock it down, be at about a Mortal Kombat sweep range and start punching. If your position is wrong, you'll eat a clear-out attack. Doing it right means Tyrog will eat your punches with no chance to strike back. It's best if you hold the joystick Down, so the 4th attack of the chain will be the over-shoulder slam. Get into position and do that again... and again, until Tyrog is history.
Not worried about 1-lifing at this point. Any 1CC with Mess will be good enough.
