Call of Duty: Warzone - The Essential Beginner's Guide
Hey everyone, my name is Ivica and thanks for checking out this Call of Duty Warzone Beginner's Guide. This free-to-play battle royale title just dropped and unsurprisingly, it is getting really popular really fast. Currently, the hype seems more than deserved being that Warzone offers a lot of unique elements that are not present in any other top-tier battle royale game. At the same time, this means that beginners might have a hard time getting into the game when they start to play it.
To help with that, I did a meta-analysis of numerous beginner guides and first-time player tips and tricks. This means that I’ll skip the well-known general battle royale tips and tricks like that you should play as a team or be mindful of your surroundings. I will also avoid listing all distinctive elements of Warzone like having 150 players in any match, multiple respawn mechanics (including the Gulag) or the fact that you spawn and drop to the map already armed with a pistol. You'll learn all that in your first match. Instead, here are some distinctive elements of Warzone that should be helpful even if you played other battle royale titles before.
Aggressiveness and Headshots
Warzone, at least in the starting stages of a match, does not seem like a tactical title. Instead, you’ll need to play aggressively and score first kills fast. The reason for this is the fact that they’ll restore your health. True, your health does regenerate on its own but kills get it up immediately. Also, Headshot damage has been increased compared to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare | Multiplayer, while a sniper headshot will drop an opponent no matter what armor is he/she/other pronoun wearing. So fire quick and go for the head.
Landing Calculations
Being that most players will approach a match aggressively, landing right in the middle of the actions will likely get you killed. At the same time, locations with high levels of loot are also prime spots for everyone. That is why you need to strike up a balance between isolated and safe locations and those where the riches and dangers go together. So far, it seems that Airport, Stadium, and Hospital offer the best alternatives for that as a rule of thumb.
Forget about Camping
If you’re a sniping camper, you’ll have a hard time in Warzone. Tall buildings offer loot on their first floor and their roofs, which is apparently a decision by Activision (no pun intended) to stop people like you. Furthermore with elements like cash, weapon drops, contracts, and loadout drops, sticking to one place and hunting arrivals seem pointless. Yes, buy stations do present a great sniping target, but other elements favor movement and only short opportunities sniping.
Vehicles are attack magnet
Vehicles are fast and effective transport in Warzone, but they appear on the minimaps of your enemies and make a lot of noise. Even when you disembark, the other teams will have a general idea where you started moving on foot. Yes, there come with some unique elements like the ability to transport tactical rovers, ATVs and SUVs in a truck (double vehicle transport - brilliant!) but the downsides of vehicle movement still make it something of a last resort, especially in the early phases of the game.
That was all I managed to compile from my meta-analysis and thank you so much for watching. If you’re a first time viewer, please subscribe to my channel for more Warzone content and other hopefully cool content. Until then, thanks for watching and have a great day.
